CEO, Qubiz

2021 was a year of balanced growth and consolidation, with several new projects starting in industries that are accelerating nowadays despite the turbulence caused by the pandemic. After 2020, a year of high uncertainty, we had a relatively steady period. We stayed close to clients and reassured them that Qubiz will continue to be their reliable strategic partner even through uncertain and challenging times. The Qubiz Team also benefited from continuous, calm, and encouraging communication from the company, as we addressed different changing circumstances.

We are thrilled that, by the end of the year, we exceeded the 2019 results. 2022 will be full of challenges for sure, however, based on our 2020-2021 experience, now we are more than confident that we will thrive on them!

After a 2020 characterised by uncertainty, in 2021, companies activating in industries such as logistics, energy, engineering or healthcare, started to allocate increasing budgets for investments, increasing the demand for innovative IT solutions.

As a direct effect of this positive market dynamic, our business with clients from these favored industries also increased - at the same time we also maintained a stable delivery on the more affected industries as well. Certainly, the proximity to our clients, agility to adapt to the needs and, in general, investment in client relations also played a major role in this. Regular client visits are part of the normal course of action at Qubiz, and we are glad that we could resume this practice in the second half of the year.

Extended the ISO 27001 certification

2021 was a milestone year in terms of our business processes. Information Security is one of our key focus areas. After the Cluj office earned the ISO 27001 certification in 2020, this year it was the Oradea office’s turn to achieve certification.

Quality first

This is an ongoing process improvement effort on all areas throughout the projects’ lifecycle, from requirements gathering to architecture, planning and execution. And beyond process and technology, we consider that the key ingredient for quality is ultimately, our people. We have dedicated significant effort and resources, which led to visible improvements, confirmed also by the feedback received from our clients.

R&D Project of the Year x2

Another highlight of 2021 for the Qubiz Team is the ANIS Gala Award, where we won – for the second time in a row – the R&D Project of the Year award! We impressed the jury with the Lifelight project, a technology that can measure pulse, respiration rate, blood pressure, and soon oxygen saturation, just by looking into the camera of a smartphone or tablet device for a few seconds.

In terms of team size growth, 2021 was a record-breaker so far, as we brought on board 82 new colleagues, adding up to a 22% increase.

While hiring IT professionals is not an easy feat, integrating new people – especially those who work remotely – and preserving the company culture was the greatest challenge of the year.

A growing team

Besides the increase in size, we kept an eye on the professional (and personal) development of our colleagues. Everyone in the company has a personalised career and growth path, and careers mentors assist everyone in meeting their goals.

We held internal workshops and training on technical and non-technical topics alike, which are an opportunity for development for both the attendees and the trainer. A very tangible outcome of the training program are the 24 certifications (Microsoft, SCRUM, ISTQB) obtained by our colleagues.

Honest and transparent dialogue

We believe in and continue to have an honest dialogue with the team about the results and plans of the company. Qubiz has an open- door policy that actually works. This means that the management (both middle and top) is not just open to responding to colleagues’ questions and concerns, but is actually engaged in these types of conversations. Moreover, oftentimes, they will proactively propose these topics themselves.

After all, this is what makes our colleagues feel part of the Qubiz team:
